A meeting place for unifying the common people by singing the holy name s of God in congregation was inaugurated by Sri Nityananda Prabhu at Surabhi Kunj, Navadvipa Dham, nearly 520 years ago under the direction of Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Namahatta movement as introduced by Sri Nityananda prabhu and his associates was established amongst the common people without consideration of caste, creed, or color, for the purpose of propagating Sri Nama Sankirtana.
In 1965, to fulfill this prediction, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, on the orders from his guru maharaj Srila Bhaktivinod thakur, carried the Holy name to the western countries.
In a short period of Srila Prabhupada established 108 centers in different parts of the world and instructed his disciples to spread this mission to even the remotest villages of the country, in order to eradicate the distorted caste system and establish in its place “daiva varnasrama”. to fulfill the burning desire of Srila PRabhupada and Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur and to fulfill the desire of Sri NItyananda prabhu and Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu, that Krishna Consciousness must reach every town and village. By their mercy, ISKCON, Tirupati has inaugurated nama hatta preaching in the nearby villages within a radius of 50km.
