SUPPORTING THE TEMPLE

Since in the grahastha ashrama one is allowed to do business, there is the responsibility of supporting the other ashramas, who are selflessly dedicated to god's service. Many people approach us asking how they can perform extra service and donate to the temple. Some guidelines are given below.

Life membership

This is the most important programme and was established by Srila Prabhupada himself. Being a life member unites your family with the temple. Not only are you assisting the temple by your donation but you receive many benefits of which the whole family may take advantage. These benefits include:

  1. A set of 8 selected books by His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, chosen to give you and your children complete insight into your religion e.g. Bhagavad-Gita As it is, Srimad-bhagavatam(1 Vol.), Krishna books(3 Vols.) etc. Books in your own language e.g. Hindi, Gujarati, etc.
  2. A newsletter, with all the details of ISKCON activities and forthcoming festivals and programmes, posted to your home.
  3. Records, posters, incense, oils, etc.
  4. Life membership card which enables you and your family traveling with you to stay in any of our temples and farms having guest-house facilities for at least 3 days free of charge and to experience life in the ashrama.

Annadan

These are donations towards the cost of providing Prasad for the devotees at the temple. The names of the families donating for one day are entered on boards in the temple.

Godan

The cow and bull are the creatures most dear to Lord Krishna and by His kind arrangement they have a very close relationship with human society. They care for us by providing milk and the workforce to cultivate grains in the fields. So, it is our duty to care and protect them. Godan is used to supply the cows with hay, foodstuffs, bedding and medicine. The names of those who donate to the cows for one whole day are inscribed on our Godan board.
